Happiness

Why am I happy?

Choosing is hard.

Under every choice

lies a breath bated.

Disappointment readies itself

gathering, remembering

the feel of past humiliations.

Reality readies itself

inexorably bruising assumption,

dampening the arrogance of dreams.

This then is the value of humility

suffered, it chooses joy

in a breathtaking world.
